The Blue Flower
The title BLAUE BLUME mirrors several aspects of the music
on this CD.
In Robert Schumann's ground-breaking Fantasy opus 17, a
symphony for piano, the Blue Flower of Romanticism
blossoms in all its individual, Schumannesque splendour.
Frédéric Chopin's piano poety is represented by his very first
Mazurka (opus 6, no. 1) and his Ballade no. 3 (opus 47), also
music related to this concept.
Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen's piece BLUE TRACES originated
during the composer's "blue period." This exciting
contemporary work is inspired by the paintings of three
contemporary artists, John Petter Havnerås, Elin Alver, and
Thor Erdahl. All three works are reproduced in a richly
coloured booklet, meditations on the colour blue.
Through all the notes
In earth's many-coloured dream
There sounds one soft long-drawn note
For the one who listens in secret.
